Manapparai (Tamil: மணப்பாறை) is a town and a municipality in Tiruchirappalli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Manapparai is the headquarters of the Manapparai Taluk

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Manapparai had a population of 35,644. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. In Manapparai, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Manapparai is famous for its Murukku and cattle market.

Politics

Manaparai is now a Legislative Assembly Constituency headquarters, part of the Karur Lok Sabha constituency. Previously it was part of the Kulithalai Assembly Constituency.

The city is well connected to Trichy and Dindigal through NH45, Pudukottai through SH71 via Viralimalai, Karur and Namakkal through SH71 via Kulithalai and Madurai through Thuvarankurichi. The bus service frequenty available to the cities are Trichy, Dindigal, Madurai, Karur, Pudukotai, Tanjore and timing buses availabale to Salem, Chennai, Vellore, Erode The train facility also available in Manapparai. Manapparai railway station is one of the major railway station to connect the major cities of Tamil Nadu like Chennai, Madurai, Dindigal, Trichy as well as trains to Kanyakumari, Guruvayur also passing through this railway station.
