Bloomington High School [BHS] is a public secondary school in Bloomington, Illinois which serves the public high school population in Bloomington School District 87.

BHS has an enrollment of around 1500 students, with an average class size of between 19-20 students.

Courses include subjects of standard core high school curricula (Math, English, Science, Physical Education, Foreign Language, etc) as well as courses in fine arts, vocational skills and special education. Athletics include a full range of individual and team sports, from tennis, swimming and wrestling to football, soccer and baseball. A wide variety of school clubs also meet on a wide range of topics. School colors are purple and gold. The school and team mascot is the "Raider." While the Raider was once signified by a profile view of a Native American "Indian" chief, this persona was dropped and all images/references to this long time mascot have been removed from the school (including a very large "coin" with the mascot embossed on it, once located prominently on the outside of the school). The mascot is now a faceless "Purple Raider" and the school is labeled the "Home of the Purple Raiders." That returns the "Raider" to its faceless status that existed prior to the adoption of the Indian mascot in the late 1960s. The athletic teams participate in the Big 12 conference.
