The 2002
FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship was held fromAugust 17 toSeptember 1 . It was the first sanctioned youth tournament for women put together byFIFA . The tournament was hosted byCanada . FIFA granted the tournament to Canada in March 2001. Three cities hosted the tournament,Edmonton ,Vancouver , and Victoria. Canada'sChristine Sinclair was theAdidas Golden Ball recipient, as tournamentMVP , and theGolden Shoe (with 10 goals) winner.Tournament
