Silvanus (praetorian prefect)

Silvanus (praetorian prefect)

Silvanus was a praetorian prefect who protected Saloninus, the son of the emperor Gallienus. In 260 after an invasion of the Alamanni and Franks in which Postumus declared himself emperor, Silvanus had a dispute with the usurper Postumus. Postumus besieged and attacked Cologne, where Silvanus and Saloninus were residing, and killed both of them.
