Aleks Krotoski

Aleks Krotoski is an academic and journalist who writes about and studies technology and interactivity. In addition to writing a column for The Guardian's [http://technology.guardian.co.uk Technology] section and presenting the Guardian's weekly technology podcast, she blogs on Guardian Unlimited and is currently working towards a PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Surrey, examining the social networks of cyberspace.

Since co-presenting the computer games programmes "Bits" (with Emily Newton Dunn and Emily Booth) and "Thumb Bandits" (with Iain Lee) for Channel 4 between 1999-2002, she's written academic and industry research papers. In 2006, she was the primary author and Managing Editor of the UK's Department for Education and Skills and the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) collaboration, [http://www.elspa.com/assets/files/u/unlimitedlearningtheroleofcomputerandvideogamesint_344.pdf Unlimited Learning: The role of computer and video games in curriculum-based education] , and in 2004 she authored ELSPA's [http://www.elspa.com/assets/files/c/chicksandjoysticksanexplorationofwomenandgaming_176.pdf Chicks and Joysticks: An exploration of women and gaming] .
