Alltwen (or Allt-Wen) is a village in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales, near Pontardawe in the Swansea Valley.

Amenities

It has its own local rugby union club Alltwen RFC, Alltwen Primary School as well as its very own roundabout.

Famous People

Alltwen was the home village of Ronnie James, British Lightweight Boxing Champion in the 1940s and World Title challenger in 1946. Rachel Thomas the Welsh character actress was born in the village.She was born in Pontardawe. Sian Phillips the welsh singer and actress lived in Alltwen for much of her childhood.

AlltWen is the name of an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough and is a part of the parish of Cilybebyll. Alltwen consists of some or all of the following areas: Allt-Wen, Cilhendre, Trebanos, Tyle in the parliamentary constituency of Neath. It is bounded by the wards of Trebanos and Pontardawe to the northwest; Rhos to the northeast; Bryncoch North and Dyffryn to the south; and Clydach of Swansea to the southwest.

Most of Alltwen consists of farmland and woodland. The major settlement in the ward is the strip located in the north west - Alltwen village, which is part of the built up area around Pontardawe.

In the 2008 local council elections, the electorate turnout was 43.77%. The results were:
