The Bishop of Sheffield is the
AnglicanBishop of the Diocese of Sheffield. There have been six holders of the position, the last being the Right Reverend John (Jack) Nicholls, who became Bishop in June 1997. Bishop Jack retired in July 2008 on his 65th birthday. [http://www.sheffield.anglican.org/DiocesanNews_details.php?news_id=486, Accessed 26 June 2008] As yet his successor has not been named.
The Diocese was formed in 1914 from part of the Diocese of York, the first Bishop was the Right Reverend Leonard Hedley Burrows.
