Word Up! Magazine is an American magazine focusing on teen entertainment and music. It was very popular in the 1980s.

The magazine mostly covers information concerning rap, Hip-hop and R&B music.Its main focus is African American teen singers, rappers, models, and prodigies.

The magazine comes out monthly and usually has many posters and contests for fans of famous "To Die For" celebrities.

In Fall 2006 Run DMC's Rev Run's daughter Angela Simmons had a mini mag with "Word Up" called "Angela's Rundown" [http://www.whudat.com/news/pages/806/news_083106_1.php# Angela's Rundown Mini Mag] . It was to generate interest and give Angela her own spin off magazine [ [http://www.rapbasement.com/news/rap/angela-simmons-gets-her-magazine.html Angela Simmons gets her magazine | Rap Basement ] ] . In November 2007 "WordUp" printed Angela's own stand alone magazine [http://hiphop.popcrunch.com/angela-simmons-rundown-magazine-debut/#comment-36213 Angela Simmons Rundown Mag Debut] that had Bow Wow,Omarion, and herself on the cover.

Trivia

The late rapper Biggie Smalls referenced the magazine in his song Juicy (The Notorious B.I.G. song).
