Bouyon music

Bouyon music

Bouyon (Boo-Yon) is a form of popular music of Dominica, also known as "jump up music" in Guadeloupe and Martinique. The famous band is undoubtedly (Windward Caribbean Kulture) ('WCK'), who originated the style by fusing Bele, Quadrille, Cadence, Zouk, and other styles of Caribbean music. They used percussion rhythms native to Dominica, and vocals influenced by ragga, a style of Jamaican music.

Bouyon is popular across much of the Caribbean, and has spawned offshoots like bouyon-muffin, a fusion with raggamuffin
