John Atkins (writer)

John Atkins, born 1916, is a prolific writer, playwright, poet and novelist who has spent his life in literature, mainly as a critic with a gift for analysing the work of 20th century writers. He has taught in different parts of the world,including Sudan and Poland, and his erudition and breadth of knowledge is immense. He has written several books for Calder Publications and other publishers and now lives quietly in East Anglia.

He is the author of many literary bibliographies (including J.B Priestley and Graham Greene),Arthur Koestler, Ernest Hemingway, an analysis of The British Spy Novel and the mulit-volume Sex in Literature series.
