Stjørna

Stjørna

Stjørna (until 1918 written "Skjørn") is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway.

It was created when Bjugn municipality was split in three on January 1, 1899, which also created a third municipality named Nes. At that time Skjørn had a population of 2,166.

On 1 January 1964 the northern part of the municipality (Nord-Stjørna) with 676 inhabitants was reunited with Bjugn. The southern part (Sør-Stjørna) with 1,868 inhabitants became a part of Rissa.

The administrative centre of Stjørna was Husbysjøen, which today is located in Rissa.
