Publishers Weekly list of bestselling novels in the United States in the 2000s

: "For other uses of the term, please see the disambiguation page at Best sellers".This is a list of bestselling novels in the United States in the 2000s, as determined by Publishers Weekly. The list features the most popular novels of each year from 2000 through 2007.

According to "Publishers Weekly", all the calculations are based on shipped-and-billed figures supplied by publishers for new books issued in 2006 and 2007 and reflect only 2007 domestic trade sales. [ [http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6543964.html "They're Back -- Again and Again"] by Daisy Maryles, "Publishers Weekly", March 24, 2008.] The books in the Harry Potter series are excluded "because of the way AAP [Assoc of American Publishers] measures industry sales. The organization takes actual sales from 81 reporting companies (including Potter publisher Scholastic) and then uses Census Bureau data to extrapolate sales for the entire industry. In the past, the inclusion of Potter has distorted growth (and, in non-Potter years, the decline) of the children's category."
