Irving Park (CTA Brown Line)

Irving Park is an 'L' station on the CTA's Brown Line. It is an elevated station with two side platforms, located in Chicago's North Center neighborhood. The stations adjacent to Irving Park are Montrose, ½ mile to the north, and Addison, ½ mile to the south.

History

Irving Park Station opened in 1907 as part of Northwestern Elevated Railroad's Ravenswood line [" [http://www.chicago-l.org/stations/irving_park-ravens.html Irving Park.] " Chicago-"L".org (URL accessed 17 October 2006)] .

Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project

The Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project aims to allow 8 car trains on the Brown Line by the extension of the platforms at all stations. At the same time all Brown Line stations are being upgraded to meet ADA requirements. As of 2006, Irving Park Station is scheduled to rebuilt as part of this project [" [http://ctabrownline.com/irvingpark.html Irving Park.] " CTA: Countdown to a New Brown website (URL accessed 17 October 2006).] . Irving Park Station closed for 12 months from 3 December 2007, during which renovations and upgrades will take place.
