Pablo Kleinman is an Argentine-born American
entrepreneur andjournalist , pioneer of the development ofonline services inLatin America . He graduated from theUniversity of Southern California School of International Relations (USC,Los Angeles ) and went on to study at theLondon Business School and at theHEC School of Management inParis , where he obtained anMBA .In 1986, at age 15, Pablo set up an electronic
bulletin board system (BBS ) inBuenos Aires called "TCC: The Computer Connection" which was one of the first in the region and the first to run under aMicrosoft -designed platform. A year later, TCC became FidoCenter, the first node of the worldwideFidoNet network inLatin America . Pablo Kleinman was theCoordinator ofFidoNet for the whole ofLatin America (FidoNet's Zone 4) between 1987 and 1991. During that period,FidoNet became the largest public-access computer network in the region. It grew throughout the different countries in the region and reached several hundreds of access points in dozens ofLatin American cities. Kleinman was also the author ofWorldPol , a policy proposal that was published originally in 1991 and constituted the firstdemocratic organization proposal incyberspace .Many of the original participants of
FidoNet inLatin America became the pioneers of theInternet in the following years. Kleinman was an active participant of the first Spanish-languagenewsgroups and was one of the founders of several of theUsenet groups dedicated toLatin American countries. Shortly after and during the following ten years, Kleinman participated in the founding of several online services companies.Kleinman began working as a
journalist in 1989 asLatin American correspondent forBillboard Magazine , the first one to cover the region for the prestigious trade publication.He currently resides in
New York City and isEditor-in-Chief of the Spanish-language political journalDiario de América . He is also a frequent columnist about political and social issues for several different publications inLatin America ,Spain and theUnited States . During the 2008 presidential elections in the United States he began co-authoring the popularblog "Democracia en América" onLibertad Digital , one of the most important news and opinion websites inSpain .He describes his political orientation as
Libertarian and calls himself an "ex-Democrat", although in his writings he often supportsSocial liberalism ,Fiscal conservatism and economicNeoliberalism , and hawkish foreign policy views similar to those of Neocons.External links
