Gagamboy is a Filipino science fiction film made in 2004 directed by Erik Matti and starring Vhong Navarro. It is of the same ilk as the "Spider-Man" films, with a mutated spider that causes Gamaboy to gain his superpowers.

Plot

It is about two ice cream vendors who we're demoted to warehouse guards. Junie (Vhong Navarro), swallowed a spider in the warehouse and became "Gagamboy," or "Spider-Kid." The other man Dodoy, swallowed a roach in the warehouse and became "Ipisman," or "Roach-Man." Both confront each other at the middle and the end of the movie; While their alter-egos Junie and Dodoy are in love with the same girl (Aubrey Miles), and will do anything to get her.

Release

The film featured at the 2004 Hong Kong Film Festival. Despite its low production qualities, the film received general praise due to its use of humour, especially in parodying other tokusatsu and superhero films. As a result, the film is well known in the Chinese kuso community.
