Kanimangalam is a suburb of Thrissur in the Thrissur district of the state of Kerala in south India. It is about 4 km away from Thrissur. The main center of Kanimangalam is Valiyalukkal, where the Valiyalukkal Bagavathy Temple is situated. It is on the route between Thrissur and Kodungallur.

Temple

Kanimangalam has a famous Sastha temple, which is about 0.5 km from the Valiyalukkal. There is a Shiva temple near to this Sastha temple, which is about 100 m away. Kanimangalam pooram is one of the small poorams participating the famous Thrissur pooram. Kanimangalam Sasthavu is the first God who participates in the Thrissur Pooram festival. He starts his journey to the pooram at 4 o'clock in the morning on the day of pooram. He reaches the Vadakkumnathan temple at 5:30 in the morning. Only then the famous Thrissur pooram starts. Kanimangalam also houses a Government Women's Polytechnic, S.N.Boy's High School, S.N.Girl's Higher Secondary School and Little Flower Convent Primary School.

As a suburb city of Thrissur, it is one of the most sought after places by people to settle.

Kanimangalam is encircled by paddy field locally named as "kole land" is one of the nesting places of migratory birds. This kole land lies one or two meters below sea level and traditionally cultivate rice. It become a lake during monsoon and it lasts 5 months. After that the whole lake is drained using hundreds of large pump sets from different stations. During the monsoon season the kole land become rich habitat for local fishes like karimeen, pallathi, bral, musu, and lot of varies of fauna and flora.
