Kentucky Air National Guard

The Kentucky Air National Guard is a subordinate air force unit of the United States National Guard. It is located in the state of Kentucky. It is considered a part of the United States Air Force, as well as its state mission.

People

The Kentucky Adjutant General is the commander of the Kentucky National Guard. Currently, the AG is Major General Edward Tonini. The Governor of Kentucky serves as Commander in Chief of the Kentucky National Guard.

The Assistant Adjutant General for Air is Brigadier General Howard Hunt III.The Chief of Staff is Brigadier General Michael Dornbush.The Wing Commander is Colonel Mark Kraus.The Vice Wing Commander is Colonel George Scherzer. The Wing's Command Chief Master Sergent is Tommy DownsThe Chief of Transportation is CMSGT Jeff Greenwood

Incidents

* On February 6 1992, a C-130 military transport aircraft operated by the Kentucky Air National Guard, with five crew aboard, crashed at 9:48 A.M. one mile south of Evansville Regional Airport in the parking lot of JoJo's restaurant in connection with the Drury Inn on U.S. Highway 41. The flight crew of five and eleven persons on the ground were killed in the crash and fifteen others were injured. Units

The Headquarters element of the Kentucky Air National Guard is located in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is collocated and totally integrated with the Kentucky Army National Guard under the office of the Adjutant General.
