Durin (Norse mythology)

Durin (Norse mythology)

In Norse mythology, Durin is the name of a dwarf mentioned in "Völuspá" and repeated in "Gylfaginning". He was the second created after the first and foremost dwarf Mótsognir.

In "Hervarar saga", Durin also forged the magic sword Tyrfing with the help of Dvalin.

Durin the Deathless is also one of the founding fathers of the Dwarves in Tolkien's Middle-earth.
