Robert Wintner

Robert Wintner is an author and founder of the Snorkel Bob's chain of snorkel shops throughout Hawaii.

As Robert Wintner, his books, all fiction, tend to be led by male protagonists. Snorkel Bob's guides to Hawaii are written in the same tone as his novels.Fact|date=February 2007 The guides are mainly tourist guides with guidance on snorkeling sites, beaches, reefs, hazards et al, and also decent restaurants. Snorkel Bob is considered by many as a egocentric individual, often this is seen in his promotions of his large snorkel shop chain. He oddly refers to his name "Snorkel Bob" like a chorus in a song. He has been drawing attention to his business by his campaign against the aquarium trade in Hawaii. Using sound bites, and catch phrases in an attempt to convince the general public, he shows no restraints in blatantly misstating false data & quotes from the scientific authority of Hawaii. His mission is to have a outright ban on tropical fishing despite the fact that data compiled by the Dept of Land and Natural Resources of Hawaii opposes his view point, because their management plan has proven sustainable in a detailed eight year study of the resource. Even after all of this, he still is actively pursuing State government officials such as the mayor of Maui (Mayor, Charmaine Tavares),the governors advisory council, and anyone willing to listen in the House of Representatives.
