Ibusuki District, Kagoshima

Ibusuki (揖宿郡; -gun) was a district located in Kagoshima, Japan.

As of June 30, 2005 population data (following the January 1, 2006 merger), the district had an estimated population of 14,761 and a density of 134 persons per km². The total area was 110.31 km².

There was only one town left in the district.

District Timeline

*October 15, 1956-The village of Kiire gained town status.
*November 1, 2004-The town of Kiire merged with the city of Kagoshima
*January 1, 2006-The towns of Kaimon and Yamagawa merged with the city of Ibusuki to form the city of Ibusuki.
*December 1, 2007-The town of Ei merged with the towns of Chiran and Kawanabe from Kawanabe District to from the city of Minamikyūshū.
