Andrew Edmund Armstrong Selous (born 27 April 1962) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He is Conservative Party Member of Parliament for South West Bedfordshire.

Early life

London-born, he was educated at the London School of Economics, receiving a BSc in Industry & Trade in 1984. He was a member of the Territorial Army, in Two Squadron, Honourable Artillery Company from 1981-94. From 1988-94, he was a director of his family firm CNS Electronics (now [http://www.cnsfarnell.com CNS Farnell] ). From 1991-2001, he was an underwriter at [http://www.greatlakes.co.uk/gluk Great Lakes] insurance company.

Parliamentary career

On November 7, 2006 he was promoted to Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions. He was first elected in 2001, and had previously contested Sunderland North seat in 1997. He is a director and prominent member of the Conservative Christian Fellowship.

Andrew Selous MP voted in favour of the military campaign in Iraq based upon the assurances of the Attorney General Lord Goldsmith as to the legality of the action (Hansard, Iraq: Legality of Armed Force 17 March 2003), who "Has clearly advised the Government that the military campaign in Iraq is clearly legal" - (Selous, 31 March 2003).

Personal life

He married Harriet Marston in August 1993 in Wensleydale. They have three daughters (born July 1995, March 1997, and November 2000). There names are Camilla, Letitia and Maria, all three chilldren attended Beechwood Park School.
