Dr Hely Hutchinson Almond (12 August, 18327 March, 1903) was a physician and a politician. He is remembered as a pioneering Scottish educator. He had a distinguished career at Glasgow University and Balliol College, Oxford, where he was a Snell Exhibitioner.

In the spring of 1862, Almond purchased Loretto School in Musselburgh, Scotland, where he had previous served at the school as a mathematics master before taking up an appointment at Merchiston Castle School. It is for his headmastership at Loretto that Almond is best remembered today.
