Petrislav was the Prince of Duklja and Travunia between the years 971 and 990. [Cawley] According to the Chronicle of the Priest of Duklja, he ruled only Duklja, while his younger brother Dragimir ruled Travunia. Duklja consisted of two distinct territories: Zenta in the south, and Podgoria in the north. Initially, Petrislav ruled Zenta, and Podgoria belonged to his youngest brother Miroslav, but after the latter died, Petrislav took over his land. The original distribution of these lands among the three brothers was determined by their father Hvalimir, who had ruled all of them until he resigned in his old age. Petrislav was succeeded after his death by his son Jovan Vladimir, and was interred in the church of the Monastery of the Holy Virgin Mary in Krajina. [Stephenson]
