tory Background

The background of the novel was set during the Ming Dynasty (because not mentioned but proof was made because Wudang was already established and the person in charge is Priest Chongxü). Chong was an orphan, but was taken into Mount Hua as an apprentice to Yue Buqun. While still an apprentice, he was along with his apprentice sister and daughter of Yue Buqun, Ling Shan.

Linghu Chong's Martial Arts

As an apprentice in Mount Hua, he was intelligent. He would even self-create new swordplays while sparring with his apprentice brothers. Later in his life, he would either meet highly-skilled masters or find rare martial art manuals. He learns the DuGu Nine swords from Feng Qingyang and goes on to become one of the most prolific swordsman in Jin Yong history.

Anti-Five Mount Swordplay (破五獄劍法)

While Chong was at the Repentance Cliff as a punishment against the rules of Mount Hua, he discover martial arts written on the wall. To a non-canon way, these martial arts is called Anti-Five Mount Swordplay (破五獄劍法). These swordplay were created by the Evil Clan that was battling with the Five Mount clan many years ago.

Nine Swords of Dugu (獨孤九劍)

To combat Tian Boguang fast broadsword skills (who had arrived on Repentance Cliff to take Chong to meet Yilin on orders from her father), Chong was taught the Nine Swords of Dugu (獨孤九劍) by Feng Qingyang. It is an extremely powerful and offensive swordstyle with its focus around anticipating and countering opponent moves created by the legendary DuGuQiuBai (Dugu;one who seeks defeat)

Star-Sucking Skill (吸星大法)

He also learned Star-Sucking Skill (吸星大法), a contact technique able to absorb the internal energies of his enemies. As a result he was able to rid himself of his internal wounds and also have a firm basis of qi to combat his foes with.

Tendon-Altering Sutra (易筋經)

After his internal energies from the Star-Sucking Skill started to reverse, Shaolin Abbot Fang Zheng taught him Shaolin's revered Tendon-Altering Sutra by telling him it was Grandmaster Feng Qingyang's internal energy cultivation method. This finally fulfilled Abbot Fang Zheng's promise to teach it to Chong after Ren Yingying had surrendered herself to Shaolin
