Pando (unit)

The Pando is an informal unit of length or distance most commonly used as a rough guide to the dimensions of a room, living space or other dwelling or building. One Pando is defined as six feet, or alternatively, the approximate height of an average man.

] , the Pando is used when estimating the size of rooms, as most people often find it more straightforward to relate distances to the size of a well known object. In this case, the object is a man and the size is his height. Rather than attempt to visualise the dimensions of a room from a description such as 32' 6" long by 24' wide, it is easier to imagine this area being defined as approximately 5 Pandos long and 4 Pandos wide. Knowing that a Pando is approximately the height of a man, the true size of the room is more easily pictured.
