Note: During 2006 all Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) outside the London area were restructured. The restructuring were finalised in October 2006, some of the old Primary Care Trusts are amalgamated with others to form a new PCT while others are split with its constituent parts being subsumed into several new PCTs. The number of PCTs reduced from 303 to 152. This happened alongside with the restructuring of the Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs), of which the number reduced from 28 to 10. The 10 new SHAs largely mimic the geography of the Government Office Regions, with the South East being split into South Central and South East Coast.
