- Europa (ship)
The sailing ship "Europa" is a steel-hulled
barquefrom the Netherlands, originally built in 1911, as a lightvesselat the H.C. Stülcken und Sohn Shipyard in Hamburg Germany. The original name was "Senator Brockes". Till 1977 it was in use by the German Coast Guard as a lightship on the river Elbe. In 1985 a Dutchman bought the vessel (or what was left of it) and in 1994 she was fully restored as a barque (three mast rigged ship) and retrofitted as a special-purpose sail-training ship and now roams the seven seas in the best seafaring tradition
Europa cruises worldwide and accepts paying voyage crew (trainees) for short or long trip segments, including Ocean crossings,
STA racesand annual voyages to Antarctica, South Georgia, Tristan da Cunha, Cape Town.In 2002 she rounded Cape Horn.
