John Laffin

John Laffin

John Laffin (21 Sep 1922 - 2002) was an Australian military historian.

Early influences

Laffin was born in Mosman in Sydney. His interest in matters military may have come from the fact that both his parents served in World War I.

According to biographical information supplied by Grafton Books, a division of the Collins Publishing Group, in 1988, Laffin was "the author of more than 100 books, 15 of which in one way or another concern Islam. Another 50 are about military history and war".

Military Service

He served in WWII with Australian commandos in Papua New Guinea. On his return from PNG he was confined to a convalescent home owing to his war injuries. He married the nurse who cared for him.
