Verity Sharp

Verity Sharp

Verity Sharp is a Radio Three presenter and co-presenter from England.

Life

Sharp ended her university years by earning a BA at The University of York, including six months of training in production. During these years, she did some acting, performed music, and studied languages, including French. She also did some hospital radio for a year. She was producer and co-presenter for Pebble Mill's "Music Machine", a 15-minute music programme.

She began working for Radio 3 in 1998 and co-presents "Late Junction" with Fiona Talkington. When the programme won a Sony Gold award in 2003 she said it was a "very proud moment for the team after three years of very hard work". She is also one of the presenters of "The Culture Show" on BBC2.

Music interest

It is from her student years at Dartington College of Arts and York University that she acquired a taste for non-Western music. Although her training was in classical cello she later took up the fiddle and turned to traditional music.

Having interviewed them while presenting a "Culture Show" special in 2008, she admitted to having a fondness for the thrash metal band Metallica from her teenage years.
