The Kinison was a rock band formed in Oblong, Illinois in 1999.

History

In late January 2002, the band headed out to California in search of a new bass player and drummer. Initially, finding new bass player Tim Milhouse, and drummer Mikey Rivera, both friends of their then Manager Bill Fold. Tim Milhouse ceased his playing with the Kinison. They then recruited bassist Frank Figueroa, from a band called 401 Waterman. Frank played bass on the band's debut EP, "Mortgage is Bank." Soon after their recording, Frank quit The Kinison to find work as a registered nurse. The trio soon recruited Mike V and Mikey to complete the band. After 9 months of playing tiny shows in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles area they landed a spot on the indie rock festival This Ain't No Picnic. The band recorded an EP "Mortgage is Bank" in September 2002 for Fearless Records. In the spring of 2003 The Kinison found their way onto Coachella, a two day music festival in Indio, California. In late 2004 they were one of the support acts for Blink-182 on a number of their European tour dates.

After months of touring they finally landed a record deal with LaSalle Records, and recorded the full length album, "What Are You Listening To?"It was recorded in just 15 days, produced by Pelle Hendricsson and Eskil Lovestrom (Refused, Poison The Well, Hell is for Heroes).

In November 2005, The Kinison broke up, which caused Chris, the frontman of the band to post the following statement:

"I wasn't happy any longer and hadn't been in a long time. I love music and this wasn't music to me. It wasn't the Kinison anymore, it got lost somewhere. I no longer was a part of the writing (which was my fault) and I felt like I had lost everything I had set out to do when I was a kid."Fact|date=July 2008

"I used to be so excited about practice and writing even talking about the band. Now it made me sick to my stomach to even think about the band. Once inspiration leaves, it leaves with a vengeance."Fact|date=July 2008

In late February 2006, http://www.myspace.com/ballenas was discovered. This was a project between friends including Sam Sundos from the Sundelles, Bryan Swarthout from 401 Waterman, Christopher Lewisand Guy (Bub) Knight from The Kinison.

In October 2006, Chris' new project was uncovered, http://www.myspace.com/christopherleelewismusic, leaving no doubt to the end of The Kinison. This was recently found out to be a joke.

In January 2007 Canada surfaced http://www.myspace.com/canadianbabiesCanada features Christopher Lee Lewis and Guy B Knight. They have recorded one record 'The Hermit' and are in works of another. They plan to be touring by mid summer 2007.
