Khatra ( _bn. খাত্‌রা) is a sub-division of Bankura District. [ [http://bankura.gov.in/Profile/administrative_features.htm Official District Website] ] The Kangsabati Project for irrigation is located in this sub-division. Kangsabati dam has an important role for farmers of the districts of Bankura and Paschim Medinipur. Khatra is on the south-west part of Bankura. Pioneer "Bratachari" Guruji Gurusadaya Datta is popular here.

Health

The Khatra sub-division has a 40 per cent below poverty line population and till 2006 it did not have a subdivisional hospital. Politics

Khatra is part of Ranibandh constituency (No. 246). In 2006 state assmembly elections, Deblina Hembram of CPI (M) won the seat.
