Memorial Stadium is a stadium in Storrs, Connecticut. It was primarily used for American football, and was the home field of the University of Connecticut football team between 1953 and 2002, before the opening of Rentschler Field. The stadium holds 16,200 people and was built in 1953. It was being expanded into a soccer stadium to replace Morrone Stadium. The plan stated that a basketball training facility would be built where Morrone is now. ^[1]. However, those plans were later scratched, and instead the now-vacant Memorial Stadium will be destroyed and the basketball facility will be built there instead. ^[2]
