Faronics Corporation is a privately held software company with offices in the USA and Canada, and a network of distributors located in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Faronics delivers computer software that helps manage, simplify, and secure multi-user IT environments. The company develops software for Windows, Mac and Linux environments.

History

Faronics was first started by Farid Ali. The company first sold hardware then moved on to software.Faronics first became well-known as the manufacturer of Deep Freeze, a software program that protects workstation configurations from accidental or malicious damage by restoring the entire computer back to its originally protected state on every reboot. This program was the first of its kind and can now be found in numerous K-12 schools throughout North America, as well as in many other educational institutions, healthcare facilities, libraries, government organizations and corporations. Deep Freeze was included in Macworld's 22nd Annual Editors' Choice Awards for 2006. [cite news

In January 2007, Faronics released a desktop computer power management solution, known as Power Save. Power Save uses intelligent energy management to ensure workstations are available when system resources are required, while conserving power during productivity downtimes. Power Save works in both Windows and Mac environments.

In the Fall of 2007, Faronics launched a classroom management tool called Insight. Insight enables instructors to monitor and control the activities of every student’s computer in their class from a central console.
