Gamal Hemdan (Arabic:جمال حمدان) (
February 2 1928 -April 17 1993 ) was a prominentEgypt ian geographer.Life
Hemdan was born in 1928 in
Al Qalyubiyah governorate,Egypt . In 1948, he graduated from the department of Geography, faculty of arts at theCairo University with honors. In 1953 he obtained hisPh.D. from theUniversity of Reading ,England and was then appointed a lecturer at the faculty of arts, Cairo University.In 1963 he resigned his post at the university in protest to stepping by his promotion. Since then, he secluded himself off the society and dedicated his life to writing and research. He died in 1993 in a domestic accident.Works
