Christopher Shawn Patrick Canty (born March 30, 1976) is an American football cornerback in the Arena Football League.


High school and college

Born in Long Beach, California, Canty attended Eastern High School in Voorhees, New Jersey. He was a two-time All-American at Kansas State University and won the Jack Tatum Award his junior season.[1]


Canty was drafted 29th overall in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Over four NFL seasons, he played for the Patriots as well as the New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks. In 58 career games for those three teams, he had four interceptions and 126 tackles.


He went on to play for the Las Vegas Gladiators and currently plays for the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of af2.
