Allison Cameron, M.D., is a fictional character on the FOX medical drama "House", portrayed by American actress Jennifer Morrison. An immunologist, Cameron was a member of Dr. Gregory House's team of handpicked specialists at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital's Department of Diagnostic Medicine. She was hired six months prior to the pilot episode. [The un-aired version of the pilot of "House".] In one episode, Cameron accuses House of hiring her only because of her physical attractiveness. House counters that she was hired because she didn't allow other people to give her things and he respected the fact that she advanced her medical career despite being 'pretty.'

      Characterization

Cameron objects to House's reliance on deceiving their patients and has gone head-to-head with him several times on the issue.cite episode| title = Sleeping Dogs Lie| episodelink = Sleeping Dogs Lie (House episode)| series = House, M.D.| serieslink = House (TV series)| airdate =2006-04-18| season = 2| number = 40] cite episode| title = Informed Consent| episodelink = Informed Consent (House episode)| series = House, M.D.| serieslink = House (TV series)| airdate = 2006-01-19| season = 3| number = 49] She has also been reluctant to deliver bad news to patients or their families.cite episode| title = Maternity| episodelink = Maternity (House episode)| series = House, M.D.| serieslink = House (TV series)| airdate = 2007-12-07| season = 1| number = 4] Nonetheless, she is effective at gaining patients' trust and their consent to diagnostic procedures, in contrast to House's strong-arm methods.

In season three, the character became more willing to employ House's own tactics in order to get the job done. At the same time, she justified her changed behavior through good intentions and loyalty to her boss. Her allegiance came to an abrupt end, however, when she and her fellow colleagues resigned in the season three finale.

In season 4, Cameron's character has become the department head of the ER. She's seemed to have grown tired of House's childish antics, although they still maintained a more playful, friendly banter and her relationship with Chase has developed further. Cameron has also been used by the new fellows as a sounding board, often asking her how to deal with the situations House has put them in.

      Biography

Prior to working at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, Cameron was a medical intern at the Mayo Clinic, and was one of the top students in her class in medical school. She hails from the Midwestern United States and has a sibling, an unnamed older brother.cite episode | title = Que Sera Sera | episodelink = Que Sera Sera (House episode) | series = House, M.D. | serieslink = House (TV series) | airdate = 2006-11-07| season = 2 | number = 52] cite episode | title = Paternity | episodelink = Paternity (House episode) | series = House, M.D. | serieslink = House (TV series) | airdate = 2004-11-23| season = 1 | number = 2] cite episode | title = Fetal Position | episodelink = Fetal Position (House episode) | series = House, M.D. | serieslink = House (TV series) | airdate = 2007-04-03| season = 3 | number = 63] Cameron worked for House under a medical fellowship alongside Drs. Despite her kind and earnest nature, Cameron has undergone traumatic experiences in her life. Her awkwardness with death was explained when it was revealed that she had once fallen in love and married a dying man when she was 21. [ [http://www.usanetwork.com/series/house/theshow/characterprofiles/morrison/index.html Dr. Allison Cameron] , usanetwork.com] The marriage lasted only six months ending with her husband's death due to thyroid cancer that had metastasized to his brain.cite episode | title = Fidelity | episodelink = Fidelity (House episode) | series = House, M.D. | serieslink = House (TV series) | airdate = 2004-12-28| season = 1 | number = 07]

In season one, Cameron begins a tense game of cat-and-mouse with House, culminating in a date and later in season three, a kiss (although the true nature of the kiss is compromised by Cameron as she uses it in a failed attempt at a diversion, in order to take a sample of House's blood). Her interest in House supposedly subsides as she begins a tenuous relationship with Dr. Chase, but it resurfaces occasionally with flirtations and Freudian slips. In the season two episode "Hunting," Cameron has a one-night stand with Chase while she is high on methamphetamines.

Cameron begins a "friends with benefits" relationship with Chase in season 3 at the end of the episode "Insensitive". However, when Chase informed her that he wanted to take their relationship forward, she ended it. Despite Cameron's refusal to reconcile, Chase asks her out every Tuesday, saying "It's Tuesday...I like you." Later, Cameron realizes her feelings for Chase and the two begin a relationship. As Cameron and Chase's relationship began moving to the next level, the real life fiancés Jesse Spencer and Jennifer Morrison called off their wedding. In the third season finale, Cameron briefly became the lone fellow of the Department of Diagnostic Medicine after her colleagues, Dr. Chase and Dr. Foreman, were fired and resigned from their posts respectively. She bid farewell separately to the both of them, even giving the latter a framed citation of his published article in reference to their previous conflict the year before. In a move not previously foreseen by House, she tendered her resignation for the second time in the series at the end of the episode as well. She gets another job in the ER at Princeton-Plainsboro, and dyes her hair blonde. Chase and Foreman both notice that, despite having resigned from House's team, she is "remarkably involved with his team". She later confides in Foreman that what she misses about her old job is "people doing whatever it takes to get the job done".cite episode | title = Whatever It Takes | episodelink = Whatever It Takes (House episode) | series = House, M.D. | serieslink = House (TV series) | airdate = 2007-11-13| season = 4 | number = 76] She has stated on multiple occasions that she does not want her old job back.cite episode | title = Guardian Angels | episodelink = Guardian Angels (House) | series = House, M.D. | serieslink = House (TV series) | airdate = 2007-10-23| season = 4 | number = 74]
