Timo Scheider (born
November 10 ,1978 inLahnstein ) is a German racing driver, who competes in theDeutsche Tourenwagen Masters forAudi .Karting
Like most other drivers, Scheider started his racing career in
karting in 1989. In 1992, he went on to win the Kerpen Winter Cup and earned 7th place in the German Junior Kart NRW-Cup a year later. His 7th place disappointment lead to success the next year when he won the cup.Formula Renault
In 1995, Scheider joined the German
Formula Renault 1800 championship and won it in his first year. The next year, he jumped to the 2000 championship and earned 4th place.Formula 3
After only 2 years at Formula Renault, the German jumped series to
Formula 3 . He clinched 2nd place in 1997 with 3 wins but his performance deteriorated the next year when he ended up 8th. He then got 6th the next year, but his hopes of moving up in single seaters had been fatally dented.DTM
As such, Timo spent the next 5 years of his racing career in DTM from 2000. In his first year, he got 12th followed by a disappointing 19th the next year. After that set back, he went up to 8th in 2002. The following year, he also took 8th and also bagged first place in the
24 Hours Nürburgring . In 2004, Scheider retained his 8th place in DTM and was 10th in the 24 Hours Nürburgring.After GT season he cameback to DTM and 2008 he is driving 2008 Audi A4 DTM.GT
2005 was a busy year for Scheider. He was 2nd in the FIA GT Championship and winner of the
Spa 24 Hours and Istanbul. He was also 13 overall and class winner in the 24 Hours Nürburgring. He was also selected forA1 Team Germany that year.External links
