Patrick ('Patch') Robertson

Patrick Robertson (born May 5, 1977) is an Australian musician and songwriter, best known as the frontman for the successful post-grunge rock band Motor Ace. Formed in Melbourne during 1998, Motor Ace would go on to have major chart success with the albums "Five Star Laundry" and "Shoot This" in the early 2000's, before going on a lengthy hiatus that allowed individual members to pace themselves with their own projects. Robertson in particular began experimenting with his own musical abilities that would eventually form the basis of Motor Ace's comeback album of 2005, "Animal". Though critically very well received, the album's benign, melancholy sound (which was very reminiscent of The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft's solo work) did not sit well with casual fans and radio programmers and was a commercial flop, thus leading to Motor Ace's permanent breakup in December 2005.

Since Motor Ace disbanded, Robertson has been putting his talents into soundtrack and score work, which he now does professionally. He wrote and performed the music for the Australian short film "Love This Time", which won a Special Mention at the 2006 Berlinale Film Festival. Most recently, he composed the soundtrack for the documentary short "Veiled Ambition" by Melbourne filmmaker Celeste Geer, which received the Palace Films Award for a short film promoting Human Rights at the 2006 Melbourne International Film Festival.

Robertson in the past has admitted to having Crohn's Disease.

He once owned a cat, Ashcroft, named after one of his musical heroes Richard Ashcroft.
