The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology is a museum affiliated with Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1866, it is one of the oldest and most renowned museums focusing on anthropological material, and is particularly strong in New World and Mesoamerican ethnography and archaeology. The Museum also houses an archive of over 500,000 images relating to the collection. The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology shares a building with the Harvard Museum of Natural History.
Permanent exhibits
In its exhibit halls the museum displays artifacts from its vast collection of casts from Mesoamerican monuments. It also devotes exhibits to the history of indigenous peoples of North America as well as a diverse array of objects from the Pacific Islands.
