Tweek Tweak [http://www.southparkstudios.com/show/display_faq_search.php?section=2&id=9552&search_faq=] is a fictional character in the Comedy Central animated television series "South Park", voiced by Matt Stone. Introduced during season 2, Tweek originally lived in the brown house located at 17091 Bonanza Street and later moved up the block to the red house at 27092 Bonanza from season 6 onwards. His name is taken from a slang term referring to recreational users of methamphetamine, as well as hyperactive or dysfunctional people in general.

Character traits

Hyperactivity

Tweek is a hyperactive boy who has messy blonde hair, generally wears a grey-green shirt buttoned incorrectly, and dark blue jeans. Tweek is noted for his quirky mannerisms; he is always nervous and jittery and usually overdosed on caffeine, leading to extreme paranoia and hyperactivity. In addition, he claims that "I can't sleep... ever." His voice is usually strained, and he tends to scream, "GAH! Too much pressure, I can't take it!!" or some variation thereof. In the episode "Free Hat", he appears to practice fatalism. Tweek has become so hyper that he has terrible nightmares when he ever does sleep, and has even been known to pull out huge pieces of his hair.

Coffee Addiction

Tweek's parents used to own their own coffee shop, "Tweek Bros. Coffee", but now they run a "Harbucks", and attempt to calm him using coffee; this has the effect of increasing his caffeine levels and worsening his mental state, however no one ever makes the connection because Tweek, like Timmy, has been incorrectly diagnosed with ADD, but unlike Timmy, actually shows reasonably similar symptoms to the disorder. The only time anyone has ever questioned this is when Kyle asks Mrs. Tweek about it in the episode "Gnomes". This has also led him to be called a cocaine addict by one of Steven Spielberg's bodyguards in the episode "Free Hat".

Notable appearances

During the episode "Gnomes", Tweek's father's Coffee Shop, "Tweek Bros. Coffee," is under threat of enforced closure due to being outsold by a retail coffee shop chain, "Harbucks" - a parody of the Starbucks coffee chain - opening up in South Park. Tweek himself experiences hallucinations - the titular "underpants gnomes", whom he believes are stealing his underwear. It transpires that the gnomes are in fact real; their discovery by the other characters is used to advance the plot line.

Tweek himself has fought with Craig in the episode "Tweek vs. Craig", Stan, Kyle and Cartman trick them into fighting each other so they can decide once and for all who is the baddest kid. Stan & Kyle want Tweek to win and Cartman wants Craig to win.

In "Professor Chaos", Tweek was chosen as the fourth friend of the main characters during a reality television spoof in which Kyle, Stan and Cartman remove Butters from their group. He was a member of the group for five episodes in the middle of the sixth season, after which he returned to his previous minor-character role.

In "Simpsons Already Did It", at the end of the episode, a fraction of Cartman's "Sea-Ciety" start worshiping Tweek as a god. The Sea-People that worship Cartman and the ones that worship Tweek then go to war against each other and end up killing themselves and their entire civilization.

In "Red Hot Catholic Love", although still part of the main group, he is just a minor character in the episode and doesn't make any worthwhile contributions.

In "Free Hat", Tweek participates the campaign trying to prevent George Lucas and Steven Spielberg from changing "Raiders of the Lost Ark". He then threatens to destroy the changed version with an RPG-7. However, the attack fails and he is captured resulting in the continued premiere of the edited version of "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

In "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society", Cartman suggests replacing him (as he replaced Butters, who replaced Kenny) with Bebe as the fourth friend. Kyle actually overrules him, saying "Tweek's cool," and Stan backs him up by saying "yes" indicating that Tweek has actually won over some support in spite of his caffeine-induced difficulties. So Cartman is himself kicked out. He is soon back with the group after this episode.

In "Child Abduction Is Not Funny", Tweek starts panicking over the media coverage about how children aren't safe. His near-abduction serves as the catalyst of the episode's main plot. He never appears as the fourth friend again, whether he has quit being a member or that Stan, Kyle, and Cartman has removed him from their group. He appears with the boys and their parents at the Tolerance museum in The Death Camp of Tolerance though.

Trivia

*Tweek was the official fourth friend from 606 (Professor Chaos) to 616 (My Future Self n' Me), replacing Butters who replaced Kenny, despite not having any major roles in the last few episodes of his run. Kenny eventually comes back (basically out of nowhere) in 617 (Red Sleigh Down).
*He was once addicted to cough medicine
*He is number 12 on the South Park little league team
*He was part of Craig's metrosexual gang besides the fact that there was an earlier episode based around both Tweek and Craig fighting each other.
*Tweek's World of Warcraft character is a Gnome. (This is possibly a reference to the episode Gnomes.)
*Tweek's specialist is called Dr. Norris who teaches him to "find his center" (but he only tries it once)
*He has appeared on two separate TV talk shows protesting, the first time protesting against big corporations and the second time protesting against films being edited by their directors (although he ended up having to defend toddler murder).
*Tweek continues the trend of the fourth friend having blond hair; Kenny, Butters, and Tweek all have blond hair and were the fourth member of the group. Although Bebe is also blond, she replaces Cartman instead in her brief time as one of the four friends.
*Tweek will be included in the fifth series of South Park action figures by Mezco.
*Tweek weighs about 48 pounds, as revealed in Tweek vs. Craig.
*Tweek is the subject of "Gnomes", a no-budget song created by the St. Louis-based jam band The Earth Mafia. The song references the South Park episode of the same title. The song can be found at the band's Myspace page: [http://www.myspace.com/theearthmafia] .
