After receiving a Bachelor or Arts at The University Of Sydney majoring in English and Italian, which saw her win the Honi Soit comedy writing award, followed by a Masters degree in Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney, for which she won an award for her television documentary on politician Tanya Plibersek, Cassimatis began her career as a writer with the Australian "Cosmopolitan" magazine in 1996. She also freelanced for various magazines before being appointed the Editor for teen magazine Barbie. During her time there she moved to Los Angeles, which saw her world open up in ways she'd never imagined: she has since worked as a Los Angelesbased writer, reporting for lucrative U.S. titles "Glamour", "Cosmopolitan", "Teen" and " Marie Claire" magazines, as well as have her work syndicated internationally.
