The North Dakota Fighting Sioux basketball teams (men's and women's) are parth of the athletic program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They are members of the NCAA Division I Great West Conference since the 2008-2009 season. Previously they played in Division II's North Central Conference. The current Fighting Sioux men's head coach is Brian Jones and the current women's head coach is Gene Roebuck. The public address announcer for the men's basketball team is Brian Lee Rivers, while the announcer for the women's team is Max Huber. Radio duties are handled by play-by-play man Paul Ralston and color commentators Max Huber and Sean Johnson.

On May 14, 2009, the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education adopted a motion to retire North Dakota’s “Sioux” nickname and logo, effective October 1, 2009. However, the nickname has not yet been retired as proponents of the nickname are still trying to garner support from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe in south central North Dakota so the school can continue to use the nickname. UND has already gotten support from the Spirit Lake Sioux tribe near Devil's Lake, ND to use the nickname.
