Asimov's Biographical Encyclopedia of Science and Technology

Asimov's Biographical Encyclopedia of Science and Technology

"Asimov's Biographical Encyclopedia of Science and Technology" is a history of science by Isaac Asimov, more recently updated by his daughter Robyn Asimov.

Written as the biographies of over 1500 scientists, it is organized chronologically, beginning with Imhotep and concluding with Stephen Hawking. In the second edition Isaac Newton receives the greatest coverage, a biography of seven pages. Galileo, Faraday and Einstein tie on five pages each, and Lavoisier and Darwin get four pages each. Dutch writer Gerrit Krol stated: "One of the charms of this encyclopedia is that to each name he adds those with whom this scientist has been in contact" - nearly every biographical sketch contains links to other biographies.
