Description

Dufferin Mall is a well-established, 567,000-square-foot (52,700 m2) regional shopping centre, known for community collaboration in the densely populated west end of Toronto.

Anchored by H&M, Winners, Wal-Mart, Toys 'R' Us and a No Frills Supermarket, Dufferin Mall features over 140 shops and services, and has over 12 million shopper visits annually.

Dufferin Mall is owned and managed by Primaris REIT.

History

The location was previously occupied by the Dufferin Racetrack, a horse race track which operated from 1907 until 1955. The first shopping plaza on the site was established in 1956 and was named Dufferin Plaza Shopping Centre.[1] The shopping plaza was converted to enclosed mall space and renamed Dufferin Mall in the 1970s. In the 2000s, the mall underwent an interior facelift.

Transportation

The mall is served by the route 29 Dufferin Street bus, and is located one block south of the Dufferin subway station.

Mobile application

Dufferin Mall has a free downloadable app for iPhone iPad and iPod touch, available on iTunes at the Apple App Store. The new app was created to enhance shoppers’ experience by allowing users to easily find products and services through a single search function called “What are you looking for?” Personal Shopping and Virtual Guest Services features are also included.

In popular culture

The Dufferin Mall was used as a filming location for the Family Channel original series, Naturally, Sadie.

It was also featured in Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim Gets it Together.
