Access and interchanges
The station is not accessible by wheelchair. Other facilities include 1 automatic ticket machine, 2 quick ticket machines, 1 ticket booth, countdown timers, a waiting room and both male and female toilets.
The station is a short walk away from two National Rail stations, both called "West Hampstead." The nearest of the two is on
London Overground's North London Lineroute, and slightly further is a station on the Thameslinkroute. These are shown as connections on most maps, and through ticketing is allowed.
Metropolitan Lineand Chiltern Main Linepass alongside the station (see photo, below), but there are no platforms on either line.
The present arrangement of three separate stations (Thameslink, Overground and Jubilee line) means that passengers wishing to change lines must walk along or cross West End Lane, a busy main road. A redevelopment proposal was put forward in 2004 by
Chiltern Railwayswhich would link the three West Hampstead stations with subterranean walkways. New platforms would be built for the Chiltern line, and possibly also for the Metropolitan line, and the Thameslink and London Overground (formerly Silverlink) stations would be relocated on the east side of West End Lane.
