Miss Globe International

Miss Globe International, also known as Miss Globe, is a beauty pageant held each year in the eastern Mediterranean region. The titleholder is Helen Cristina Alves da Silva of Brazil, who was crowned October 1, 2007, in Tirana, Albania.

Venezuela, Switzerland, Turkmenistan, and Australia were the first countries to win the Miss Globe title in their respective regions — the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Turkmenistan and the Philippines are the only Asian countries to win the title.

After the 2006 competition in Albania, four contestants were on board Turkish Airlines Flight 1476 when it was hijacked in flight from Tirana to Istanbul. None of the passengers were harmed.
