St. Elizabeth High School is a coeducational Catholic high school in Wilmington, Delaware. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilmington. It was founded in 1940 by Monsignor Grant. Originally, the school was staffed by sisters of the Benedictine order. St. Elizabeth High School shares many facilities with the [http://www.sainteliz.org/ St. Elizabeth Elementary School] and receives a good share of their high school enrollment from the elementary school graduates. The schhol colors are maroon and gold, and legend has it that the original sisters chose the colors after looking at the autum trees in nearby canby park. The mascot is the viking, and harkens back to the original norther european settlers of the wilmington area. It is the most common mascot in Delaware high school sports with Christiana H.S. and Cape Henlopen sharing the Nordic figure.
