"It Grows On You" is a short story written by author Stephen King and originally published in "Marshroots", volume 3, no. 1, Fall 1973, later revised and published in August 1982 in "Whispers", and again revised for the 1993 short story collection "Nightmares & Dreamscapes".

Plot summary

The story recounts some of the bizarre and inexplicable events that have taken place in a notorious house in the town of Castle Rock. As the incidents increase, the house has additional wings added, so the house literally takes on a life of its own, growing in what seems proportion to the awful things that continue to happen. There seem to be unsettling similarities to the house in the story, and the Marsten House from "Salem's Lot" and the titular houses from "Black House" and "Rose Red". The story also serves somewhat as an epilogue to "Needful Things".
