Ragda pattice

Ragda pattice

Ragda patties is a popular Indian fast food or snack commonly found in Mumbai. It is usually found at places or stalls that offer chaat-based items such as "bhelpuri" or "panipuri". This dish consists of two main dishes such as "ragda", a yellow pea soup and "pattice", a pancake-like dish. (The word originally refers to 'patties' heaped around a large griddle- ready to be fried before serving). "Ragda" is prepared by boiling yellow peas in water along with flavouring agents such as haldi (turmeric powder) until the peas have almost dissolved. The patties are pan-fried, mashed potato cutlets. When served, 2–3 patties are covered with the stew-like ragda and garnished with finely chopped onions, coriander leaves, spicy chutney and sweet sauce.
