John Torode (born 1965) is an Australian chef based in the UK but specialising in Australasian food. He runs Smiths of Smithfield, and several other restaurants scattered around London's Smithfield market.

He has had numerous TV appearances - his recipes are occasionally shown on "Saturday Kitchen" on BBC1, a show for which he is now a Guest Presenter (since May 2008.) He is also regularly appears as a guest newspaper reviewer on BBC News 24 and he has a regular article in the Daily Mail on Saturdays and in Olive Magazine. He was the resident chef on This Morning with Richard and Judy for four years. He is probably best known for co-presenting "Masterchef Goes Large" and "Celebrity Masterchef" on BBC2 or BBC1 along with Gregg Wallace.

Torode came to the UK at the age of twenty-five. He quickly made his way up to becoming head chef in some of London's top restaurants, working in many London restaurants, including Pont de La Tour, Quaglino's, Mezzo, and the Bluebird restaurant, along the way.

Australasian food being his specialty, he is acknowledged as being one of the main chefs to have introduced that style to the UK. He also supports organic food.

He currently lives in South London, with his wife, whom he recently married. He has four children
